Kindergarten Rules

Kindergarten and Daycare Day

The kindergarten and daycare are open from 7:30 to 18:00
During the summer period (01.06–31.08), the groups are open from 7:30 to 17:00

The work of the groups is planned based on the kindergarten curriculum, which is derived from the "National Curriculum for Preschool Child Care Institutions". The groups follow a daily schedule, which can be viewed on the notice board located in the group corridor.

Parents have the right to receive information from the kindergarten director and teachers about the organization of work and the educational and developmental activities.

Bringing and Picking Up the Child

Bringing a child to and picking them up from the kindergarten takes place at a time convenient for the parent, considering the kindergarten’s daily schedule. Please hand over your child to the teacher in person. The teacher is responsible for the child from the moment the parent has personally handed over the child.

When picking up your child, please make sure to contact the teacher. The group teacher is responsible for the child until the parent has taken over the child and informed about leaving.

The kindergarten closes at 18:00 (17:00 during the summer period). When picking up your child, please allow enough time to prepare the child for leaving. In case of delay, inform the group staff. Notify the teacher if someone other than the parent will pick up the child. The teacher is not allowed to hand over the child to a stranger without consulting the parent.

Please inform the group phone about the child’s absence/illness/return to kindergarten (preferably by message):

Catering

Food orders are placed the previous day by 14:00. Monday’s meals are ordered on Friday.

If you wish to cancel or resume meals after absence, please inform the group phone (preferably by message) before 14:00

The menu is prepared in accordance with healthy nutrition requirements. The menu can be viewed on the notice board of each group, located in the group corridor.

According to the daily schedule, breakfast is at 8:30 and planned activities start at 9:00. If you want your child to have breakfast, please adhere to the designated time. Breakfast is not served after 9:00. If your child has food allergies, be sure to inform the teacher.

Child’s Clothing

Please bring the child to kindergarten in comfortable, clean, and intact clothing. Indoor shoes are not mandatory. When dressing the child, please consider that clothes may get dirty during meals and activities.

Label your child’s clothes and shoes to avoid confusion and mix-ups. For outdoor activities, we recommend separate outdoor clothing that may get dirty.

NB! For the child’s safety, use neck warmers instead of tied scarves. We also recommend removing hood strings and, if possible, using detachable hoods with snap buttons.

If there are any special considerations regarding the child’s clothing, please inform the group staff.

Outdoor Time and Toys

Children spend time outdoors 1–2 times a day, depending on the weather and planned activities. If the effective outdoor temperature is below -20°C, children will not be taken outside or the outdoor time will be shortened.

If a toy day is organized within the group, children are allowed to bring a toy from home. The group staff will inform when and which toys are allowed.

Child’s Health

Children who are found to be ill during morning admission will not be accepted into the kindergarten. The group teacher has the right to refuse a child showing signs of illness (eye infection, rash, runny nose, cough, fever).

If a child becomes ill during the day, the parent will be contacted first to decide whether the child should be sent home or to a medical facility (depending on the condition).

Please inform the daycare immediately about infectious diseases (chickenpox, scarlet fever, measles, etc.). After an infectious disease, the child may return to kindergarten only with a doctor’s approval. Plan in advance how your family will handle a child’s illness. A sick child needs care at home.

Cooperation and Information Sharing

Good cooperation between parents and teachers is the basis for a child’s quick adaptation and sense of security. This, in turn, supports the child’s development and creates a pleasant atmosphere for the whole day. Please follow notices on the bulletin board and emails sent to you. Through these, we inform you about events and current activities in the kindergarten.

Inform the teacher or kindergarten director if your contact details (phone number, email address, home address) change. For questions, concerns, problems, or suggestions, feel free to contact the teacher or the kindergarten management. Your suggestions regarding the organization of the kindergarten are always welcome.
